[35] “For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.” – Mark 8:35 (KJV)
Have you ever considered this saying of Jesus in Mark 8:35? Why did Jesus say that anyone who saves his life will lose it, but those who lose their lives for His sake and the gospel’s will save it? Logic can’t explain this; revelation will.
According to Jesus, real meaning in life will be discovered when a person decides to risk it all for His name’s sake. On the other hand, those who choose to run away from ministry and chase after money and other worldly things will end up losing their lives. So, there are two primary paths in life, each requiring sacrifice. If you sacrifice your life for Jesus by becoming more committed to ministry, you’ll find more relevance in it, plus additional eternal rewards in heaven. But if you run away from ministry and follow after worldliness, you’ll get what you pursued but, ultimately, lose your life to keep them.
Have you ever wondered why some worldly rich people don’t have peace? It’s because of this. God doesn’t want you to be poor, but He doesn’t want you to sacrifice your life for money. It is His blessing upon you that will add no sorrow to your life (see Proverbs 10:22). Don’t be trapped with the deception of following after worldliness. It has no lasting benefit to your life.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the gift of eternal life at work in me. Help me to follow You ardently no matter where I am on this Earth. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
