Don’t Be Timid When Preaching the Gospel

[28] “And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching, [29] for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.” – Matthew 7:28-29 (NKJV)

One category of people who taught the words of the Lord to the Israelites during Jesus’ time was the scribes. They were people who had experience not just in knowledge but also in writing. But according to Matthew 7:29, they taught the Word without divine authority. No wonder sin was increasing even though they were still ministering.

God’s Word is a hammer and fire (see Jeremiah 23:29). It breaks every rock (things like hard-core bad habits and persistent negative occurrences) into pieces. But the potency of the Word is not seen when it is treated lightly and not preached with divine authority. Look at all that Jesus did in His few years on Earth. No Pharisee, scribe or Sadducee was able to do that. Why? Because they lacked divine authority.

Today, dear preacher, your case is different. When God anointed you to preach the gospel, He also gave you the power and authority to carry out that divine mandate. Don’t be timid when preaching the gospel. The enemy, which you must cast out, doesn’t respond to timidity. Use the power in the Word of God to work and see miracles happening in your ministry so frequently.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to preach the gospel in divine power and not out of timidity. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
