[29] “Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?” – Jeremiah 23:29 (KJV)
What does fire do? It burns anything put in it. Right? God was once speaking to the prophet Jeremiah, and He asked him a question: “Is not my word like as a fire?” This statement from the Almighty kept me thinking a lot. What did God really mean when He said that?
For God’s Word to be like a fire, then it can consume anything that gets in its way of being fulfilled. That means the application of the Word clears everything that stands as a blockage to God acting upon what He has said. Let me give you an example from scripture.
God promised Abraham in Genesis 13:14-15 that the land of Canaan would belong to his descendants forever. Centuries later, when the set time for the prophecy to be fulfilled was reached, there were giants on the land. And in fact, all those giants were part of the cursed generations of Noah’s grandson – Canaan. So God told the Israelites, who had journeyed through the wilderness for forty years, that they should kill all those people on that land. The fight was massive, but eventually, they triumphed. God’s Word of prophecy did the work through the Israelites.
Perhaps God has put a dream in your heart that He’s going to do great things through you. But you look at yourself now and can’t figure out how you are going to map out the plan to get there because several things are standing in the Word. Can you release the Word God said over those blockages? God’s Word is like as a fire unto those things. So, it will remove all of them from your path step by step. Never talk yourself down on what God has said He’ll do in your life. He is faithful.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your Word’s influence in my life. I pray, Father, let Your Word clear the path of my life as I live to fulfil what You have said about me. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
