[6] “Righteousness guards the person of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.” – Proverbs 13:6 (NIV)
Who is a person of integrity? He’s a person who is faithful in being honest with himself and having strong personal moral principles. Because this is a personal conviction, it takes righteousness to live like that. So, King Solomon was right when he wrote in Proverbs 13:6 that righteousness guards the person of integrity.
When Jesus saves you, He makes you God’s righteousness in Him (see 2 Corinthians 5:21). So, your ability to live like Jesus, maintaining a personal conviction in the faith and turning away from practising evil schemes, even in secret, is dependent on your righteousness state in the Lord, not by your works.
It is sad to say that so many people, including some believers in Christ, don’t have integrity. But God doesn’t want you to be part of the lot. He wants you to stand out in faith, so much so that there will be a clear distinction in your life from that of a worldly person. Learn always to do what is right because it will protect you if not now, then in future.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for giving me the gift of Your righteousness. Help me to live clean before you, no matter where I go. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
