Don’t Be Surprised When People Run to You Because You Have God

[23] “Thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘In those days ten men from every language of the nations shall grasp the sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.” ’ ” – Zechariah 8:23 (NKJV)

The first time I read Zechariah 8:23, I was surprised because I didn’t know that God could sponsor any of His servant’s publicity. Back then, when this scripture was written by the prophet Zechariah, there was no Instagram, Facebook, YouTube or any social media. So, publicity was by word of mouth. Even during Jesus’ time, when He appeared to Cleopas and the friend who was travelling on the way to Emmaus, they were discussing how the news of Jesus’ death had spread across the country (see Luke 24:13-14). So, for Zechariah 8:23 to come to pass, it was hard to believe by then. But today, it’s not a surprising thing.

With the presence of internet-driven platforms, it has become easier for preachers to share the gospel of Jesus with the world. Some who have had the privilege of God uplifting their horn have seen several people follow them and listen to their teachings without even seeing them before. Isn’t that amazing?

See, there are far too many people seeking to know God in this generation but aren’t finding Him because they don’t know how to. That is why you shouldn’t be surprised when people run to you because you have God. They want to experience the God you have in ways they haven’t seen before. When God lifts you and gives you that privilege, don’t mess up with it because it’s about the welfare of His people.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your grace and mercy. Help me to shepherd the people You have given me well. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
