Don’t Forget to Do Just as God Said

[21] “And when eight days were completed for the circumcision of the Child, His name was called JESUS, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.” – Luke 2:21 (NKJV)

I once went to a baby christening service in church years ago. When the pastor gave the microphone to the couple to explain why they chose the name, particularly the Christian name, the husband said that he received that name while he was a young guy praying for his marriage. I was delighted, not only because of the baby but because the man didn’t forget to do just as God said. Joseph and Mary also did the same.

When the angel Gabriel visited Mary to announce the birth of Jesus to her, he told her that the baby would be called Jesus (see Luke 1:31). The angel of the Lord also gave Joseph a dream about that same baby and told him that he would be called Jesus (see Matthew 1:21). So, since the same name was revealed to the couple differently, it was proof enough for the couple to name Him Jesus.

When God tells you something, how do you handle it? Do you document it and put it in a place you won’t forget, or do you brush it aside? Many people disobey God because they simply forget what He told them to do. Don’t let that be your case. If you are someone who forgets things fast, write down God’s promise to you at a place you’ll remember. You can even tell someone to design a wallpaper for you so it’ll be on your phone lock screen. Don’t let forgetfulness be a reason why you fail to do what God has said.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your grace and mercy. Help me always to remember to do what You have said about my destiny. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
