On Correcting Marriage Errors

[1] “Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives,” – 1 Peter 3:1 (NKJV)

Marriage is one of the most interesting yet controversial topics people talk about in this generation. Today, in many countries, divorce rates are constantly rising, and a considerable percentage of marriages battle with issues. But are these problems new to God? No! He is very aware that these problems will come. That is why He has made the solutions to such issues available in the Bible. So, the scriptures may not directly answer a person’s marital problem, but by revelation, the child of God should find it. One of such scriptures is 1 Peter 3:1.

In that verse, the Bible says wives must be submissive to their own husbands. And that command has no conditions attached to it. In this case, whether your husband is good or bad, once you are a Christian wife to him, you must submit to him. That is simple! You see, many women who think they are more spiritual than their husbands flout this spiritual command, and they end up having problems.

I believe 1 Peter 3:1 was written for two main categories of wives:

  1. Those who got saved after they got married, and
  2. Those whose husbands, although Christians, developed a bad character in the marriage.

There are wives with these issues. And just in case you are a woman and not yet married, you can prevent this by getting married to a godly man who fears God and meets all scriptural standards to marry you. So, no matter where you find yourself, delete “divorce” from your marriage dictionary and focus on obeying the scriptures. It will end well with you.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your spirit of understanding in my life. Help me to obey Your scriptures no matter what situation I find myself in. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
