[2] and He said to them, “Go into the village opposite you; and as soon as you have entered it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has sat. Loose it and bring it.” – Mark 11:2 (NKJV)
Many people like celebrating Palm Sunday every year, and that is good. But have you ever sat down to consider the story of the colt Jesus used when parading through Jerusalem on His triumphant entry? This colt was tied to a tree in a nearby village. Who owned that colt wasn’t mentioned in the scriptures. But one thing that surprised me is that when the disciples untied it, people asked them where they were taking the colt.
If the colt had not been ridden before and tied to that tree, it means that it was practically useless to people. It’s like seeing a stray dog or animal roaming in the bush. Nobody has direct oversight of it. But guess what? Jesus needed that colt. He sent for it with clear directions. Is that not interesting?
Many people are abandoned by their families and friends. They are lonely in remote places but have big dreams to fulfil without knowing how that will happen. To such people, I want to tell them (including you reading this devotional) that they are not useless. You are too needed to be wasted before God. I don’t care who told you that you were useless because of some inabilities. Hey, you are relevant before God. God doesn’t care about picking you up as a nobody and making you into someone people admire greatly. Hope in Him!
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me see my value as how you value me, not the negative things people tell me. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
