You Are No Longer A Slave But A Son

[6] “And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” [7] Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” — Galatians 4:6 - 7 NKJV

I didn’t grow up in a house in which a househelp did many home chores, but I’ve been to a few houses and seen such people serving their masters before. I could tell that the happiness of these househelps heavily depended on how their masters treated them.

That was the exact thing Paul described in the ending parts and a few verses of Galatians chapters 3 and 4, respectively. He says in Galatians 4:1 – 2 NKJV that,

[1] “Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all, [2] but is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father.”

We, the children of God, are heirs of God. But we were in captivity under the elements of the world till God sent Jesus to redeem us. In our case, the spiritual captivity we were subject to were the elements of this world. And since this world is under the leadership of the evil one (2 Corinthians 4:4), we didn’t know we were wallowing in sin and lustfulness till grace found us.

If you’re born again, you are no longer a slave but a son of God. Christ has come to redeem you from the state of corruption to a glorious state of grace. But the question is, “Can you set your mind on who God has made you each day?”

There’s a difference between being a prince of a kingdom and walking in such a consciousness. Too many believers have given indirect access to the enemy to destroy things in their lives because of bankruptcy of present-mindedness on their inheritance in Christ.

The devil has no power over your life, child of God. But he’s still cunning and deceptive. If you’re ignorant of who you are, he can take advantage of that and mess up some areas of your life. But remember, you have the power to resist the devil (James 4:7). So use it.

You are no longer a slave to the evil desires of the enemy but a son of God. Walk as such because the enjoyment of the things in the gift of eternal life depends on your knowledge of who you are in the Lord.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for elevating my spiritual position from a slave to the elements of this evil world to becoming Your child. Help me walk with a victorious mindset always because of who You’ve made me. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
