Watch Out That Nobody Deceives You

[5] “Jesus said to them: “Watch out that no one deceives you. [6] Many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and will deceive many.” – Mark 13:5-6 (NIV)

We live in an ever-changing world where new things are constantly emerging. And so, because of that, truth is continually laid aside in many places and people’s minds. Many have heard about Jesus but don’t uphold the teachings of the Word in their hearts. That is why many people are getting deceived. Today, this thing comes, and people are following it; tomorrow, that, and they follow. I felt despondent when a very long-time friend started arguing that he doesn’t believe in God anymore because he heard an atheist say some things that made sense to him. What a tragedy!

Jesus said in Mark 13:5-6 to His disciples, “Watch out that no one deceives you. Many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and will deceive many.” Hmm! Do you know whatever Jesus says is the truth and final? That is why He is the truth (see John 14:6). So if He warns that people will come claiming to be the messiah, then it’s a serious matter. Today, if you don’t believe that Jesus is the Messiah, repent because He is the only Messiah, not anyone else.

Be on guard every day, especially in what you hear online. Not every one that preaches the gospel preaches the truth. Do not give attention to anyone who does not acknowledge Jesus as the Son of God, for that person is a liar. Guard your ears and eyes, lest you be deceived by false messiahs.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to cling to the old rugged cross of Christ. May I never meander from Your ways as written in scripture. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
