Rejoice with Those Who Rejoice

[15] “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.” – Romans 12:15 (NKJV)

What comes to mind when you see “rejoice with those who rejoice…” in the Bible? Quite happy. Right? But in a generation where many people put up smiling faces while carrying harmful mindsets in their minds, this scripture is somehow difficult for people to practise these days. Today, it is sad that many people cannot be genuinely sincere with others when sharing their problems because such hearers, instead of helping them, gossip about them to others. I was shocked when I vividly heard people I trusted gossip and say things about me I never thought they could go to that extent. That happened years ago, and although I’ve gotten over it, it has left an impression in me that when Jesus said that nobody is good except God (see Matthew 19:17), it is no joke.

There is an element of evil in every single individual on the face of this earth. Just that, when a person has God and lives in the consciousness of Christ consistently, it helps him to live doing good to people continually. When a believer chooses to do evil things, they allow their flesh to overpower their spirit, which is bad. You can only rejoice with those who rejoice genuinely at heart when you walk in the Spirit. Why do I say that? Because joy is a fruit of the Spirit, and when you keep in step with the Spirit of God, rejoicing every day won’t be a problem for you.

As long as some believers in Christ choose to live by the dictates of the flesh, trusting people with good information to help you celebrate your joy can be a problem. However, be on guard about who you keep in your circle. The Lord is with you.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to rejoice with those who rejoice with all sincerity of hearts. Prevent me from mingling with people who are hypocritical in their behaviour towards me. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
