“Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.” — James 5:13 NIV
Sometimes, we stumble into situations that we never planned on. And though the challenges prevail, it may be hard to find your way out of them. Well, in such a bad condition of life, God has provided a solution for you. That solution is called prayer.
James 5:13 tells us to pray when in trouble. But why prayer? Because prayer changes you and turns situations around. Philippians 4:6-7 says,
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7 NIV
Troubles can make you feel anxious. So when you pray in troubling times, you’ll experience God’s peace filling your heart and mind.
Secondly, prayer changes things because it necessitates heaven to remove your mountain. Mark 11:23 says,
Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.
Mark 11:23 NIV
Did you see that? If you don’t doubt your prayer, heaven will remove your trouble from your life. There’s no bad thing God can’t step in. There’s no trouble too terrible that our amazing God can’t solve it. He’s alive for evermore.
Tell him your woes, worries, pain, troubles, brokenness and issues. He’s not like a man to neglect you when you need him. He’ll help you.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Oh God, thank you for assuring me in Your Word that as I pray when in trouble, You’ll hear me and come to my aid. I believe this in Jesus’ name. Amen!
