[6] “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.” – Ephesians 5:6 (NKJV)
Many of us don’t fancy keeping empty things. Right? Even if you bought an empty container, you probably needed it to put something in it. So, guess what? Because you know that there is nothing in an empty container, you will surely not think that there is something in it. Hmm! The Bible says that as a believer, you let nobody deceive you with empty words. Really, what does it mean?
You can easily discern it when you see an empty thing. But what of empty words? The word “empty” used in Ephesians 5:6 means destitute of spiritual wealth or labour, which results in nothing. With this explanation in view, it means that there are people who are experts in deceiving others with ambitious words, capable of drawing your labour, attention, and mind, but at the end of the day, it leads to nothing. It takes a lot of discernment to detect these kinds of words from these people.
We live in a world that is constantly evolving new things. That means ideas are at the forefront of many people’s minds. And that’s not a problem. But some people are vain talkers. These are those who deceive others with empty words as promises but do nothing in the end. Beware of those people. Not everything that glitters is gold.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your guidance and support in my life. Help me to follow what Your Word says and not be deceived by the empty talks of some people. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
