Greet One Another with a Holy Kiss

[16] “Greet one another with a holy kiss. The churches of Christ greet you.” – Romans 16:16 (NKJV)

Did you know that the Bible doesn’t prohibit the brethren from greeting one another with a holy kiss? But from my own observation, especially within some African churches, this is one of the less used forms of greeting. When did God remove the fulfilment of this command from us? I believe it is still relevant in this generation because it is in the scriptures.

One reason it is hard to see believers greet one another with a holy kiss is how successfully the world has painted a distorted view of love in the minds of many, especially using life circumstances and media influences. Sexual immorality has become so common that telling another fellow that “I love you” without any sinister intention behind your words has become hard.

But God called us to influence the world with Christ, not for the world to influence us with its evil practices. Conforming to the patterns of God instead of the world requires that you obey what the scriptures say. If you want to greet another believer with a kiss, let that kiss be holy — not mouth to mouth, but one meant to exchange pleasantries. Avoid overstepping your boundaries to do crazy things because of misrepresentation of what the Bible has said.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your love in my life. Help me commit to loving the brethren no matter what. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
