God Has Met The Righteous Requirement of The Law In You

[3] “For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, [4] in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” — Romans 8:3 - 4 NIV

God provided the law to the Israelites in the Old Testament to control how they ought to live in righteousness. And even though the law was good, they couldn’t meet its requirements because their sinful flesh weakened them. Let me give you a practical illustration.

Assuming I give a three-year-old boy a big bucket filled with water to carry, he cannot do that because his physical strength doesn’t meet that requirement. Right? That was how the law was to the Israelites.

God gave it to them, but they thought they could abide by its requirements with their own strength. So they failed to live righteously, even till today — for those trying to live by it. But God saw the failures of men and decided to send Jesus in the likeness of sinful flesh to meet that righteous requirement in order to condemn sin in the flesh. That was evident when Jesus lived without any trace of sin in his life.

Today, Christ lives in you. So the divine enablement to live unto God without sin has been granted to you. In other words, God has met the righteous requirement of the law in you. Therefore, you’re righteous before God in your heart not by works but by faith in Him (see Romans 10:10). The sinful nature of your flesh has been crucified (see Galatians 5:24).

You don’t need to live with sets of dos and don’ts. Just focus on Jesus. And as He guides you in your day-to-day living, He’ll provide the anointing and ability to live by God’s standards without stress. Live with a victory-over-sin mentality because that’s your reality.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for sending Your Son to condemn sin in the flesh. I affirm the truth that I’m not a slave to sin. Therefore, I live with a conqueror mentality. Thank You, Jesus. Amen!
