[10] “Do not trust in extortion or put vain hope in stolen goods; though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them.” – Psalms 62:10 (NIV)
While God genuinely blesses people for what they do, some people are also bent on using dishonest ways to get rich. In Ghana, where I hail from, many government workers actively take bribes from people who avoid the orderly way of doing things. As a result, get-rich-quick schemes are commonly seen in several workplaces. I don’t know about such cases in your country, but I believe it is a global issue because evil is spread across the world.
However, the Bible says in Psalm 62:10, “Do not trust in extortion or put vain hope in stolen goods…”. See that? While anybody can get rich by extorting money from others and stealing, you, a child of God, are not to trust it. Why? Because people who practice those things believe that that is a sure way to get rich, which is a fallacy. You see, the devil is a skilful deceiver of minds. If he can present himself as an angel of light (see 2 Corinthians 11:14), then he can convince people to see sin as a palatable thing to enjoy while hiding the consequences from them.
Before taking a bribe or stealing from an account, remember that God has seen you even if you have put mechanisms not to be caught. You can get away with men for such acts, but the Holy Spirit won’t stop convicting your heart to help you repent of those deviant acts. He wants you to live clean, so give the devil no chance to inflict your mind.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your active supply of provision at every stage of my life. Help me be patient in life and not use dubious means to do things for selfish gains. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
