[26] “The LORD detests the thoughts of the wicked, but gracious words are pure in his sight.” – Proverbs 15:26 (NIV)
Do you know that God sees your thoughts? No human being sees what you are thinking, but God sees them. That is why the Bible says that the Lord detests the thoughts of the wicked. If He doesn’t see their thoughts, how can He detest them? Even in Proverbs 16:2 (NIV), the Bible says God weighs our motives. So, you can deceive people by speaking nicely to them while thinking evil about them. But you cannot deceive God with it.
Gracious words are pure in God’s sight. But why? It’s because He knows such words come from a purified heart and mind. So, the main reason some believers who know God speak graciously and wisely is because of how God’s Word has made their hearts soft, not really because they are good people.
If you pay attention to managing your heart well, you’ll not speak anything short of gracious words. That is why the Word charges you to keep your heart with all diligence because out of it springs the issues of life (see Proverbs 4:23). Check the words you speak because God will honour your words when they are pure in His sight. Above all, love others with a pure heart.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your words of encouragement in my life. I pray I don’t give up on what You have called me to do. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
