Do Not Let Any Unwholesome Talk Come Out of Your Mouth

[29] “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” – Ephesians 4:29 (NIV)

Do you know that part of the things believers in Christ are mandated not to do is to let any unwholesome talk come out of their mouths? The word “unwholesome” used in the scripture means corrupt. That implies God doesn’t want you, His child, to say anything that doesn’t help you or others. Unfortunately, because talk is cheap, words are the most abused mode of communication in this generation.

How you talk and what you say significantly influences you and people. If you keep saying negative things, it’ll affect your mindset as well as your hearers. That is why it is essential to maintain a positive mindset in Christ, regardless of the challenges you are facing today. Have you not read in Joel 3:10, where God’s Word says, “… let the weak say I am strong.” Usually, it’s not about the challenge before you but how you approach it.

In the midst of turmoil, do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth. Be bent on thinking and speaking positively, for there is nothing too hard for the Lord. He will step into your situation.
