Have a Long View of Life

[1] “Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; [2] for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.” – Psalms 37:1-2 (NIV)

Comparison is one thing many people don’t talk about, yet it is happening in the minds of many. Some people watch what their peers are doing and view themselves as having delayed lifestyles. If you have this mental struggle, the earlier you understand that God has earmarked every person’s walk of faith differently, the better. You must have a long view of life before you can understand certain things well.

Look at what the Psalmist said in Psalms 37:1-2. Through a song, David was inspired by the Spirit to give a word to those who fret (worry) because of the evil people in their lives. But you may ask, why should someone worry about another person’s evil ways? Well, the truth is that many evil people use ill-gotten means to create wealth. Since people, believers and unbelievers alike, all somehow look for money, the believer is likely to think that one may be inferior because of the money people who don’t know God have.

Can I encourage you today? The second verse of Psalm 37:2 says all those wicked people who pride themselves in what they have will soon wither; like green plants, they will soon die away. That means that all their wealth is short-lived.

I hope you know that Satan doesn’t give a person something without taking much more from him. That is why people lose their families, use their relatives for money rituals, or cheat others in business to make money. If you are an employer or businessman, be careful about cutting corners to create an undue amount of profit. If you do, it’s only a matter of time before everything you have built will crash down. Your integrity before God matters to Him, so don’t soil it.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to have a long view of life in my thinking, lest I compare short-lived things and possessions people have with the priceless gift of eternal life You have given me. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
