Are You Suffering In Vain?

[26] She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. [27] When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, [28] because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” — Mark 5:26 - 28 NIV

One time, I went to the bank to create a bank account for a unique purpose. And when I entered the banking hall, I asked a security man where to go to get the new account created, and he showed me. But when I got to that room, many people were in there. So I wondered, “When am I leaving this place” because I had another thing to attend to. Not knowing, I was next in line because those I came to meet in the place either arrived with a friend who was being served or had to see someone for something minor. I was suffering, but it was in vain.

How many times do situations such as these happen in your life, where there’s a ready solution unbeknownst to you, yet you’re worrying about how to deal with it, so you worry and use human strategies which later fail? That was the case of the woman who suffered from haemorrhage in the Bible.

This woman was in severe pain for twelve years. It’s written that she had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors, yet instead of getting better, she grew worse (Mark 5:26). But she heard about Jesus, had faith to approach Him and was determined to touch the hem of his garment in the midst of crowds. Eventually, she received her healing. All the pain she suffered for twelve years was just because she didn’t know that her faith in Jesus could solve it instantly.

I want to ask you a simple question “Are you suffering in vain?” That confusion raging through your mind for months is not God’s will for you. The Bible says God isn’t the author of confusion (see 1 Corinthians 14:33).

Don’t repeat the mistake of the woman. She used human calculations and methods to deal with her sickness, yet it proved futile. But when she contacted Jesus, the person of grace, she got her healing.

When will you release grace to your situation? When will you stop calculating happenings by your limited understanding? God is the ancient God, who knows the end from the beginning. If He tells you, “My child, come to me in prayer. I will show you things you don’t know” (see Jeremiah 33:3), it’s not for fun. Instead, it’s for your safety.

Let God give you direction by His light, and many unfortunate things to happen in your life will get avoided.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, guide me in the way everlasting. I release grace unto my situation. Turn things around, Lord, for the profiting of your child as You’ve destined my life to be. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
