Put on the Cloth of Joy No Matter the Circumstance

[16] “Rejoice always,” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16 NIV

Joy is a fruit of the Spirit (see Galatians 5:16), Which means every believer has the joy of the Lord in his heart. Why? Because the Holy Spirit dwells in each believer in Christ (see Romans 8:9). However, just because you have God’s joy in you doesn’t automatically usher you to living in its manifestation. It requires work. Yes, I mean work from your end, not God.

What does 1 Thessalonians 5:16 tell us? It says we should rejoice always. Right? But look critically at the word “rejoice.” It’s a combination of two words: “re” and “joy.” Guess what it means? To consciously walk in joy. That is your responsibility, not God.

Yes, God knows that not all your days will be full of smiles. There are evil days indeed for everyone on this Earth. Today, you may be smiling, but tomorrow, an unforeseen problem may happen to you. God is your God, both in the highs and lows of your life. Come on, put on the cloth of joy no matter the circumstance. He is with you.

You are a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your grace and peace in my life. Help me to rejoice always as I live to fulfil what You have said concerning my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
