It Takes Strength to Remain Patient with the Lord

Although the majority of Christians across the world do not suffer physical harm like the Christians of old, there are still sufferings associated with serving Christ. Is it God’s plan that we suffer and undergo such trials as Christians?
In Galatians 6:9, the Bible urges us to continue doing good to people as Christians without growing weary. But why? Because there’s a due season to reap our labour of good works.
In the face of life’s circumstances, what do you do? Do you wail and worry like how many people are used to doing, or do you plead your case before God in prayer? The latter should be your hallmark as a believer.
Imagining great things to pray to God about isn’t bad. At least, it’ll create an expectation in your spirit. But you’ll do yourself great harm if you limit your mind to what you’re expecting God to do. Believe in God for big things.
Don’t commit it to people. If you commit it to them, shocks from disappointments can really harm you. Instead, commit it to God.
In the midst of turbulent circumstances, don’t run away from God like what Adam and Eve did in the Garden of Eden after they ate from the forbidden tree. Instead, run to God. Speak unto Him. Tell Him what David said in Psalm 28:2, “Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help…”. Speak in tongues if you can. Talk to Him. He’ll be there to calm you down.
David said he recognised that his help came from the Lord when he lifted up his eyes, not when he depended on his position as king or boasted about the loyal soldiers he had or even the gold he had access to in God’s temple. In the same way, you can boldly say the Lord is your helper only when you’ve learnt how to depend on Him to meet each of your needs.
Friend, you’re of more value to God than any other creature He created. He loves you so uniquely that He’s ever willing to provide what you need. But can you tune your mind to meditate on what He has said in His Word? Can you meditate on the vision God has given you for your life as you work towards it?
Making prayer the first response when confronted with situations triggers intervention. The words “Peace be still,” uttered by Jesus, carry changing power. Embracing this phrase in prayer becomes a declaration of faith, calming the storms that threaten to overwhelm you.
There are some sufferings you cannot escape in life because they’re designed by God to teach you lessons. But in such circumstances, what do you do, especially when you can’t explain why you’re going through that pain? Your answer is in 1 Peter 4:19.
It’s God’s will for you not to be dependent on anybody. If you live alone, nobody will have control over what you use your life for as you serve Jesus. But if not, have and work on the vision to build your own home, not just to get a place to rent a room.
